Hold on to your hats, Texans

Hurricane Ike seems to be a nasty little bugger and I am concerned for a friend (Laurie, the one with no name who is the chocoholic I have written about) from what I can find out she's not in the area that must evacuate but I am sure she's feeling a bit windswept right now.

I found a nice little website that gives information, current news reports, and you can even enter a zip code or address which will give you an updated hourly forecast of your home - v - the hurricane. If anyone has friends in Ike's path this may be a useful link, which is HERE

Now, will it swerve towards St Louis as I know someone there too. I know America does get hurricanes and tornadoes but it seems there are more of them recently and the severity of every one has increased. Yes, I do think global warming is to blame. Right now, thoughts are with you America and please look after yourselves.

Interestingly, if Ike stays on course then the UK normally get the reduced backlash about 10 days later. We'll get stronger windy days and a lot of heavy rain which makes a for refreshing change to the dainty raindrops and breezy weather that we enjoy daily over here, heh.

I've some blogging buddies over there - a great friend actually in Houston. When I last heard they'd lost power, so I don't suppose I'll here any more for a bit. It makes it hard when friends are involved.

My friend is in Houston (a suburb called Spring) and she sent me a sms on my mobile phone to say that it was terribly windy and they had a tree down in their drive and they had no electricity.

It does make it hard when you have friends in the area I do agree. Try that link in my post because there's a lot of choices to see where the hurricane is heading, to check the zip codes, and to watch the TV reports and to find out how Houston/Texas are coping.

Hi from Spring!
How nice to see that you were concerned! ( I knew you were but still you made me smile!)

It's a month since Ike and although I would never wish a repeat performance...It was a lovely experience in many ways. It reminded me a lot of my childhood...Neighbors were outside, children were playing in their yards and we did things like play board games with friends by candle light!
Even the worst situations can teach us something! :-)
